Ostroh Academy developing cooperation with university from Belarus

An agreement signed between Ostroh Academy National University (the town of Ostroh in Rivne region) and the Polesie State University (the Belarusian town of Pinsk) foresees the implementation of a bilateral exchange program.

Poland and Ukraine are about to write a new chapter in the history of the UEFA European Football
Championship – and to generate further excitement among either population the two local organising committees (LOC’s) have launched a promotional campaign called “Friends of UEFA EURO 2012”.


100 people in each country will get the privilege of being officially nominated “Friends of EURO”.
Among the first public figures nominated on the occasion of two special ceremonies, staged on 3
September in Kyiv and on 4 September in Lodz, were former President of Poland and founder of the
“Solidarnosc” movement, Nobel Peace Prize laureate 1983 Lech Walesa; and pole vault world-record holder, Olympic gold medallist in 1988, six times world champion and IOC member Serhiy Bubka.

 
Course of Orthodox culture will be introduced at schools

A session of the Kharkiv regional council (Ukraine's east) decided to introduce an optional course entitled Orthodox Culture of Slobozhanshchyna today at schools of the region.

As Regional Council's Deputy Chairman Viktoriya Kazakova told from the session rostrum, the course has been introduced within the frames of the regional program designated for 2010-2015 for spiritual-moral rebirth and preservation of the historical truth. "We are living on the original Orthodox land and originate from traditions of our nations," Kazakova underscored.

 
Government plans to create interest-free loan fund for higher education

The Ukrainian government is preparing to set up a fund to provide interest-free loans for education for a period of 20-25 years, Deputy Prime Minister Serhiy Tihipko told the press on Tuesday.

He informed that the activity of the fund will be managed in such a way that a student will be taught for 5 years, and then and he/she will be returning the funds for 15-20 years. "This fund will be constantly renewed," Tihipko underlined.

 
Education Ministry to introduce electronic system for acceptance of university entry papers

The Ministry of Education and Science in 2011 is planning to introduce an electronic system for receiving documents on entry in higher educational establishments, Education Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk said during a selector conference.

"We have received the task to think about the introduction, on a proposal of many rectors, heads of departments of education, of an electronic system for the submission of documents by the entrants in 2011," he said.
